Whenever I see a spotted woodpecker in the forest, I try to follow it. It becomes a rather funny game of hide and seek where the woodpecker hops from tree to tree, and I get lured deeper into the forest trying to catch a glimpse of him. He has beautiful bright red and striking black and white feathers. Before I know it I have dwelled well off the path. And the woodpecker, annoyed by my presence, has already skipped some trees to avoid me. It must be hard to be so beautiful.
